When it comes to the best televisions in the world, LCD offerings have a lot of benefits that you may be interested in. For this reason, more and more people are looking into LCD TVs when it comes time to make a purchase. But of course, nothing is that easy; especially not when you are dealing with the television industry. Not only do you have to choose between the many LCD TVs that are available, but you must also decide if LCD is even the right choice for you. As you can imagine, this is not always easy to do.

What is an LCD TV?

Before you can decide to buy an LCD TV, you need to first know what it is. After all, if you have no clue what you are paying for, you are not doing yourself any favors. You owe it to yourself to know the details of an LCD TV so that you can make the best possible buying decision. LCD stands for liquid crystal display and believe it or not, this technology goes well beyond its use in televisions. This type of technology is what has made it possible for the ultra slim, high quality televisions that are popping up in homes all over the world.

Benefits of an LCD TV

Now that you know what an LCD TV is, the next question that you will want to answer know is, why you should consider buying one? Or in other words, you will want to learn about the benefits of an LCD TV. After all, if you are going to pay extra money for one of these you better be getting some benefits, right?

When it comes down to it, there are many benefits that LCD TVs hold over their competition.

1. One main advantage of an LCD TV is that it is easier to watch when compared to other models. The reason for this is quite simple. An LCD TV features better contract components than a standard CRT television. Additionally, the overall brightness and quality make it easy for you to get a good picture, no matter if you are sitting close by or far away from the set.

2. With an LCD TV you can hook it up right from the box, and be in business in no time at all. Most LCD TVs have the tuner and speakers built in which in turn cuts back on the amount of time and effort that it will take you to get everything set up. For buyers who want nothing more than a “plug and watch” television, an LCD model is the way to go.

3. You may have noticed your old CRT set has scan lines that can really bring down the overall quality of the picture. Luckily, when you buy an LCD TV you will never have to worry about this. They offer true colour and smoother pictures.

4. In most cases, an LCD TV will last longer than a plasma set. For many people, this is reason enough to buy this type of model. After all, if you are going to spend thousands of dollars on a television you will want to make sure that it will last you for many years. Some manufacturers claim that their LCD TVs can last for up to 80,000 hours or more!

Features

Just like anything else in the electronics industry, there are many different types of LCD TVs for you to choose from. You need to compare several models in order to get the one that is best for your home. If you get caught thinking that all LCD TVs are the same, you may end up spending much more than you have to for a model that does not even suit all of your needs. There is nothing wrong with spending the money on an LCD TV, just make sure that you get all of the features that you want.

Screen Size

For most buyers, the size of the screen is the biggest consideration when it comes to buying an LCD TV. After all, this is what they will be looking at, so screen size is more or less the most important feature to keep in mind. The good thing about this is that LCD TVs come in a wide variety of sizes.
The smallest LCD TVs are approximately 20 inches in size. Although this is not huge, it is perfect for a room that is a bit smaller. On the larger end of the scale, there are some LCD TVs that are 50 inches or more. As you can imagine, this is the perfect option for a large family room or game room.

HDTV Compatible

With more and more people becoming obsessed with HDTV, you will want to make sure that your LCD TV is capable of supporting this. The good thing is that almost every new model offers the ability to pick up this signal; as long as it is offered by your cable company, of course. You will definitely want to make sure that your LCD TV is HDTV ready.

Buying Tips

Buying an LCD TV should be fun. If you are willing to take the time to see several models at more than one store you should be able to find what you want.

1. When shopping for an LCD TV, make sure that you search by both price and model. In other words, there is a large selection that you will be able to encounter. By narrowing your choices before you know what is available, you are not going to get very far.

2. Shop both small and large stores. Although the largest electronics stores may have the best selection of LCD TVs, you may find that a better price is possible at a smaller location. You should at least take a look at both before you buy.

3. Make sure that you ask about the warranty of the television before you buy. Although you should not have any problems with your LCD TV, you never know what can happen. You should have at least one month to return the unit if it is not performing as expected.
